The Beer Fridge Debate
Most men’s idea of a great Saturday in the sun, is sat in the back garden, a few friends around, bbq blazing, and plenty of beer, nicely refrigerated. So when my husband asked if we could get a dedicated beer fridge in time for the weekend barbeque, to be honest I thought it was a bit excessive. I mean why can’t you just put the beer in the normal fridge? After all, in England there are only 4 days a year where the weather is suitable to even step foot outside in anything less than ski gear!
Having got over the initial no-not-a-chance, answer, I actually sat down and researched beer fridges. I came across the tiny fridges that hold approximately 2 cans of beer and came to conclusion that they would be completely useless, and thought no more of it.
Our bbq came and went, the weather was beautiful. For once it didn’t start raining as soon as the barbeque lit – always a first! As told, my husband stocked the fridge with beer. We went shopping, got the meat salad etc, came home and found that there was no room in the fridge! My husband stood there smug as anything, and casually said “so…can we get a beer fridge?”
So back I went to research, knowing full well that if I let him do it we would end up with a beer fridge bigger than the whole kitchen! I came across a few companies selling mini fridges. Now, these weren’t the fridges which I had previously come across. These fridges were bigger, actual mini fridges – around 47litres. So you can fit loads of cans of beer in and if you’re having a party you can put extra food and drinks in too. Genius idea! They are small enough to fit on your work top in the kitchen or just tuck away neatly into the garage. They come in white, black or silver. Personally I prefer silver, as it goes with the kitchen, but everyone’s tastes/requirements are different. The average price is around £100 which I though was quite reasonable. So our new beer fridge now sits proudly on the work surface in the kitchen. To tell you the truth, it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made.
